Fax or Email a Letter to your Member of Congress
Wednesday, June 17, 2009(Kansas Wildlife Federation, Inc.)With ACES moving quickly, it's VERY important that you weigh in with your Member of Congress to support natural resource funding. Please see the draft letter below, fill in your state specific information, and fax or email in to your Member's office. (Fax? Really? Yep - House offices still all have fax machines, and since they get so many emails, faxing a letter often stands out more.)
At this point, the most important Members of Congress are the moderates, both Democrats and Republicans. You can find your Member of Congress' contact information at www.house.gov,
Thank you for your efforts regarding this important issue.
Don Snider
KWF President
Dear Representative or Senator [Name]
I am writing on behalf of [insert organization or constituency: sportsmen, anglers, birders, etc.] and other outdoor enthusiasts in Kansas to encourage you to support the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, H.R. 2454.
In addition incentives to build new clean energy sources and cuts in global warming pollution, this legislation protects and restores U.S. species, habitats, ecosystems, and ecological processes threatened by climate change.
Kansas anglers, sportsmen, and outdoor enthusiast have much to gain if our Congressmen and Senators support this bill since:
Funds would go to state agencies like the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks for natural resource and wildlife conservation; The Land and Water Conservation Fund would receive additional funding for important projects in Kansas to protect habitat and ecosystems threatened by climate change; [Example of local conservation project] As state revenues continue to decrease and population increases, the threats to our natural resources will continue to grow from climate change, and we are counting on you to insure that investment in natural resources remains an important component of any final bill seeking to address American’s climate and energy challenges. These federal conservation funds will serve as a life-line to help safeguard Kansas’s natural resource from climate change.
Thanks for your support.
Sincerely,
[Your Name & Address]
